Club news

Bude Winter Opens' go from strength to strength

A full field of 96 players competed in the inaugural Doom Bar Open on Saturday, 17 November. The weather was good and the course played even better so a big thank you needs to go out to James and his team, Charlotte and the rest of the golf team did a great job promoting and organising the event that was added to our calendar only a few weeks before.

The pair of Dan Batton and Rob Faith proved to gel with our new format of both scores to count on the front nine and one betterball score to count on the back nine, with a winning score of 60 points. Results from the day were as follows;

1st place - Dan Batton and Rob Faith - 60 points
2nd place - Steve Congdon and Dave Congdon - 59 points
3rd place - Jim Burt and Nathan Carter - 56 points

During most school holidays we will be holding junior coaching mornings/afternoons. Adam Curtis PGA Professional who has a growing reputation as one of the areas most popular golf teachers will deliver the sessions

New balls, please

Sometimes we can overlook the small details. Take your golf ball for example; you might be getting by on picking any old ball from your bag, but have you ever wondered just how much of a difference a brand new golf ball will make to your overall performance?

Believe it or not...

Tour professionals change their ball every three to four holes - some even after every hole - so why would you want to use a golf ball that you found on the course sometime last year, that has been from tree to tree with the scuff marks and discolouration to prove it?

Here's the answer...
