Pro's Open Challenge in association with WeDoGolf.com - Saturday, 7 October Can I start by saying just absolutely typical... Friday was warm and sunny, Sunday was warm and sunny and Saturday was NOT warm and sunny! In fact it was quite the opposite with wind and rain all day long. However, despite this, thanks to some very hardy golfers and some great promotional work by Charlotte Britton on Twitter and Facebook we still managed to get a field of 104 players around the course and to a finish. To make the day a little different we held some fun events alongside the main competition, a putting challenge (Won by Ray Ellis), a simulator par three challenge (Won by Sandra O'Connor) and a beat the Pro Challenge (Adam Curtis), won by Shaun Marshall. As always with Adam, the Beat the Pro part of the event comes with a little side story. The team consisting of Mark Jenkins, Dave James, Greg Snowden and Chris Hill all played their shots followed Adam, then the usual banter started "Curtis you won't beat any of our shots etc. only to find that Adam holed out for a hole-in-one. It always has to be about Adam!." Full results were as follows: First place - S. Gifford, A. Thorne, D. Vanstone and D. Wilcox, second place - L. Bridges, S. Marshall, J. Burt and A. Gilbert, third place - I. Hodge, M. Hughes, K. Nash and N. Hatton and in fourth place - S. Greatbatch, P. Davis, D. Simmons and S. Bartrop.
I would like to say thank you to everyone who gave up their time to help out on the day; Paddy Deely, Tony James, Sharon Duncan, Jill Britton and Paul Vickerstaff. Thanks to WeDoGolf.com, to Nick Tedesco for co-hosting the event, to Charlotte Britton who dreamed up the format for the day and all those behind the scenes that hold the day together. |
