A husband & wife double
The team of Lady Captain, Chris Simmons along with husband Dave had a fantastic weekend by winning the Captain Pro Mixed Shied on Saturday and the Elizabeth Cups on the Sunday. They hit great form with better ball scores of 41pts & 45pts on consecutive days. I just hope the Simmons trophy cabinet can cope! Well played Chris & Dave.
Captain's Night
This weeks 3BBB with two scores to count saw Lawrence Voysey, Pete Kelly & Bill Gibson pick up the winning vouchers with Paul Vickerstaff, Stacey Ward & Jackson Ward (Junior) finishing in second place. It was another popular evening with 34 entrants.
Future competitions
We have a number of competitions coming up including:
- John Yeo Memorial Trophy - Saturday, 9 July
- Festival Week - Friday 15 July to Saturday 22 July
Captain Pro Shield - Saturday 2 July
This event is a 4BBB pairs stableford with a twist where each pair can have a £1 wager against the Captain & Pro team so the pressure was on for Chris Hutt & myself. The competition is open to men & ladies with three shields to won for best all mens, all ladies & mixed teams. Mark Jenkins & Tony Blatchford came out on top with 46pts with the Captain & myself finishing in 2nd place with 44pts and closely followed in 3rd by Merv Hegarty & Simon Greatbatch also on 44pts.
Pictured below with the Captain & Professional are the winners of the mens shield, Mark Jenkins & Tony Blatchford and winners of the mixed shield, Christine & Dave Simmons. Chris & myself had pretty decent score of 44pts so after paying out a pound each to Tony & Mark we raised £50 for the captains charity.
The biggest winners on the day were the pairing of Andy May & Jim Ryan who managed to have the only TWO of the competition and picked up the sweep of 48 Pro V1 golf balls. The weather was nice, the course in great condition and a good day was had by all.

Is it the 'Big Three' or the 'Big Four'?
Just when you thought Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy were all set to divvy up golf's biggest prizes, along comes big-hitting Dustin Johnson. The US champion is now number two in the world and looks to be finally fulfilling his potential after another fine win at the weekend - and a big one too at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. For years Johnson seemed destined to be the bridesmaid, now he's one of the favourites to go back-to-back in Majors and take the Claret Jug back across the Atlantic.
Next week's Open at Royal Troon could be a classic
