The Club Championship - Saturday, 18 June and Sunday, 19 June
This year's Club Championship was played over two contrasting days of weather, Saturday was sunny with light winds whilst Sunday proved to be a harder test with much wetter and windy conditions. Play had to be suspended early into Sunday's round due to water logged greens, but soon resumed after 30 minutes once the heavy showers passed through. Danny Vanstone set the pace on Saturday with a gross 69, but unfortunately could not make Sunday's round so it was Ryan Curtis with a one-under-par 70 who took a slender one shot lead into the second round over Simon Greatbatch closely followed in third place by Lawrie Bridges, only four shots back.
Ryan Curtis continued his form into Sunday's round with a fantastic level par 70 in extremely difficult conditions and posted a 36 hole score of -1 (141). This proved to be too good for the chasing pack and gave Ryan his second Championship Trophy. Simon Greatbatch finished second on 146 and Lawrie Bridges third with 148.
Pictured above on the rain soaked 18th green, first place Ryan with dad (Caddy) and playing partners Simon and Lawrie. Also pictured above with the Club Captain, Chris Hutt are the two winners Ryan Curtis and Andrew Moss.
In the Nett section of the Championship it was Andrew Moss who emerged victorious, after an amazing score of nett 60 on day one he held on to win by only one shot from Tony Blatchford who almost stole it with a nett 66 on day two. Full results are as follows:
Scratch - First place - Ryan Curtis - 70 + 71 = 141 (-1), second place - Simon Greatbatch - 71 + 75 = 146 and in third place - Lawrie Bridges - 74 + 74 = 148.
Nett - First place - Andrew Moss - 60 + 79 = 139, second place - Tony Blatchford - 74 + 66 = 140 and in third place - Simon Greatbatch - 68 + 72 = 140.
